The door creaked open with a sharp sound, instantly diverting everyone’s attention from our computer applications lesson. An announcement had just informed us about the upcoming career fair scheduled for thirty minutes, starting at 1:30 pm in the Multipurpose Hall (MPH). Our teacher encouraged those interested to attend. As the news spread, most of the class eagerly exited the room.
Walking downstairs towards the MPH, we engaged in lively discussions about what to expect at the fair. Conversations swirled around which universities were considered the best. Arriving at our destination, we stepped into the MPH with a sense of anticipation.
Inside, a bustling crowd filled the hall, and we couldn’t contain our excitement. I read university names as we passed by the respective booths. My primary goal was to explore courses that would align with my interests. Initially overwhelmed by the number of students already making choices about their future, I perused subject lists and identified those that piqued my curiosity.
Engaging in conversations with friends and others at the stalls, I inquired about acceptance rates, required scores, and campus details. These discussions left me feeling reassured and optimistic about my future. The experience of speaking independently with people about my impending journey toward higher education made me feel more mature.
Collecting a plethora of flyers and brochures from the stalls became a shared joy among attendees. However, many of us lost track of time, exceeding the allocated thirty minutes. Our last-period teachers, understandably, weren’t thrilled about our tardiness.
Returning home, I couldn’t wait to share my day with my parents. This time, when they asked me about my school activities, my answer wasn’t the usual “nothing.” I’m confident that every parent would be proud of their child for taking their future seriously.
