April 16th, 2024. The day when I felt tempted to stab the clouds and the sky. I remember it was around the 4th period. The window in front of me had a strange hue to it. I brushed it off, thinking it was a trick of the light. My history classes were more dangerous than a little bit of…green colour outside the windows…, was it? Time passed. The hue got stronger. I glanced up and saw everything tinged with a surprisingly strong shade of a vomit yellow green. Once again, I brushed it off as the glass getting dirty. The break time finally came. By now, I needed a stretch desperately. I walked out of the safety of my home, and my muscles froze.
Everything was as green as the leaves of the plant I brushed by. My heart pumped with a frenzied ferocity. My arms twitched. I stepped back. My reptilian instincts eclipsed my mammalian reasoning. My whole body tremored with one thought – run. My brain was charged with one word – apocalypse. Before I could turn around back inside, the sky had some words for me too.
The rain thundered and the wind bellowed. Every second was like fighting a flying tsunami. I was knee-deep in water. My sheer adrenaline was the only thing keeping me steady. Just as I was ready to climb on top of my car, jump onto the roof and open the window to my room, my mom rushed outside with an umbrella, finally letting me inside the house.
By now, I was shivering, but not from the cold. The adrenaline was just about leaving my system, but my terror was kicking in. Lightning had struck twice while I was outside, and I was thanking God that it hadn’t hit the water.
This was one of the most harrowing experiences I have ever been in. But I can say with confidence that with this scenario, and falling off the first story of a building, I’m winning every game of ‘Two Truths and a Lie’ going forward.
