Stretched over 5 days, the global round of the World Scholars’ Cup is easily one of the best events I have been to. There were about 1000 scholars from dozens of countries. It was a phenomenal mix of cultures.
Speaking of different cultures, on day 3 of the event, we had the cultural fair where each country got to set up their own booth which the other scholars viewed. On day 4, we had the Scholars’ Ball where all of us danced and enjoyed a relaxing evening. However, apart from fun activities, we also had to participate in the actual event. The debates in particular were great.
Personally, it was my first time debating with someone not from the UAE and so it was an interesting learning experience. We then had the essay writing part of the event which had rather futuristic topics taken from all 6 subjects we were expected to know, which we all had fun writing about as well. On the last day, we had our awards ceremony which was a much awaited part of the event and Modern did quite well as always, ending the event on a a positive note.
Overall, it was an unforgettable experience and I would love to do it again.
