The production of metallic scrubbers involves a lot of pollution. From its production to its disposal, there is a lot of waste generated and this waste unknowingly adds on to the increasing pollution. On seeing these potential hazards not only to people but also the environment, Asmi Choudhary of 12D had an idea. She and her team thought of coming up with a safer alternative to the metallic scrubbers and thus the idea of Cocobre was hatched.
Cocobre is a student led business which was launched by the senior school students with the aim of this venture being to create an environmental friendly alternative to the metallic scrubbers used at home for washing the dishes.
The cocobre scrubbers are made up of coconut husk. To bind all of the coconut fibres, a jute thread is used and then this scrubber is ready for use. These scrubbers are just as efficient as any other metallic scrubber and its lifespan is much longer. The price is AED 10 for 2 scrubbers, while other organic scrubbers may cost AED 15 or more.
The best part about the scrubbers is that it generates close to zero/no waste. From the time of its production there is no waste generated and after the use of these scrubbers, they can be used as organic fertilizers for plants. These scrubbers are also not very rough on the skin.
