Due to these times of uncertainty, going to another country is the last thing on our mind. This pandemic has been the cause of so much change in our life, including missing out on the amazing opportunity to explore the breathtaking country of France.
Over the years, the French department of our school has set up an exchange programme where eager French students would get to interact with each other and learn more about this amazing language. This year was an unexpected hit because the French department surprised us all by introducing the online Azurlingua immersion programme. This programme consisted of 28 students across 8 different levels of competency. This programme’s goal is to make students not only converse in French but also to introduce them to the dialects of the French language. The programme even had classes customized to fit every child’s needs, thus making them more motivated and excited to interact with everyone.
While each morning, students conversed and interacted with the teachers, the evening consisted of a rich cultural immersion programme where they would explore the different sights of France like the city of Nice or the perfumeries around the province. Students even gained great insights from the Director of Azurlingua, Mr. Jean Luc Liberati, about his rich experiences of French culture and cuisine.
The programme concluded with a showcase, portraying all the children’s talent. The union of music and poetry symbolized the joining together of the two cultures. The mesmerizing performances were the perfect end to this successful immersion programme which was featured on the pedagogical website “Bonjour de France”. The programme looks forward to welcoming even more students in its next edition.
