In a world where public discourse is highly polarized, coarse and, ultimately, surface-level, we need thinkers who do not simply accept the status quo but challenge it. We need people who make the rules rather than simply follow them. We often look for different things; it is now time to look at things differently.
Radically reframing our perspective, our ideas and our concepts was the aim of the third TEDx Youth conference which took place on the 14th of January, 2021 from 9:15 am to 1:15 pm at GEMS Modern Academy. It centralized on the theme, “Radical Reframe”.
During this conference, 10 school students and 3 industry experts spoke to students of different grades about their take on the theme of this conference. They spoke on a variety of topics, such as the environment, adaptability, philosophy and the year 2020.
Students from across the school tackled important topics of conversation, becoming pioneers of necessary, riveting discussions. The students even got a chance to loosen up and relax during a performance by our IB band!
A day filled with enriching and intellectually stimulating speeches surely left the students of Modern with some food for thought.
