We are now at the end of our first month at school and so many initiatives have already begun, like MUN or ongoing EIP. But today I’m going to be talking about World Scholar’s Cup. It is an international team academic programme with students participating from over 65 countries. This past weekend, we got to witness students from different backgrounds, schools and cultures discover their strengths in the fields of debate, quiz and essay writing. It focuses on bringing diverse audiences and students to talk about and debate on real world issues. A team for World Scholar’s Cup includes three students. Each team participates in four events in either the Senior or Junior division of the competition. A student’s age determines his/her division of the competition.
WHO: Students of Grades 5 to 12 & IB (Juniors – 10 to 13 years and Seniors – 14 to 18 years)
WHEN : 15th and 16th October, 2021
WHERE: GEMS Modern Academy
This competition teaches students how to fight for what they believe in and how to deliver the best speeches, or how to think under pressure, give it their all and never quit even if they lose. This competition also adds so many credits into our portfolio and allows people to see our capabilities. If you have missed this year’s sign up, don’t worry! World Scholar’s Cup takes place every year and if you have not been able to find a team, do not fret; search for the perfect members next year for you and start preparing as soon as possible. I hope to see many more students from GEMS Modern Academy participate in this amazing competition.
