Culture is the map to unknown territories – it is the prologue to an untold story and a gateway to a flabbergasting new world. Culture is what defines each one of us. It is the very element which weaves a delicate bond of universal diversity and connection among each of us. In such uncertain times, it is imperative that we learn to devotedly embrace our traditions, our roots and our rich cultural heritage that unite our differences.
Language is the very edifice on which the facade of culture is built. There are nearly 6500 languages spoken today! These languages are an inseparable part of our identity. They are what helps us differentiate from one another and enable us to learn from these differences.
Today, we witness increasing polarization of human society along fault lines of prejudice, racial discrimination and cultural bigotry. We live in a world that is fearsome of change, being trapped within tyrannical confines of race, religion, culture and language. What better way to battle with the palisades of such abhorrent discrimination than by commemorating our diversities? A promising way to prove to the world that we are a united humanitarian society – one that is premised on love, veracity, respect, warmth, kindness and compassion – than by expressing ourselves in languages that truly embody our diversities?
With that very thought, we present to you The Polyglot, a kaleidoscope of cultures, experiences, thoughts and principles, a testament to the cultural richness of our world and a celebration of the vibrancy of each culture – all brilliantly blending together to form a wondrous amalgam.
