Simple Joys Of Life
It was dark and solemn as I went down the aisle,
not a single soul I knew, not one I noticed.
I felt myself drifting apart,
for I had none with a heart.
I looked up at the sky,
but the sky was solemn with clouds that were sodden.
The clouds could too let out their tears,
I wondered why my eyes held theirs back.
The grief in my heart colored it black,
the tears in my eyes colored it grey,
the thoughts in my head colored it with notion,
the stress in my limbs caused them to quiver.
I walked further and came across a pond, which was no more than a few feet long,
oh!! how lively the view was!!!
the fishes danced with glee,
and this set me free.
The tears dried,
my mind emptied the wounds of paranoid activity,
my limbs gained strength,
for I saw no reason to feel offended.
I stood and felt happy for the first time and I was sure it was my last,
I wanted to stay, but had to leave,
the sight blinked in my inward mind quite often,
and that’s when I knew- I had fallen in love with that sight.
I walked back home,
I had learned a lesson ought to be remembered-
the greatest joys of life are-
“to love and to be loved”

IPR Challenge
As part of the Dubai Customs IPR Challenge for schools, the Raffles World Academy IPR Team wanted to raise awareness about IPR through an inter school and inter university essay competition held in March 2020. Entries were received from various schools and universities across Dubai and few international locations. The entries were judged by the IPR Team mentors. The top 11 entries, including mine will be made into a book, and presented to Dubai Customs Authority. I will be sharing this honour with our senior, Varun Parekh.
