Hobbies help us reconnect with our own self and to become friends with our soul. They are a great way to destress and release our inner creativity. In addition to harnessing creativity, dance is an outlet to alleviate stress and brings much happiness and relaxation to those who embrace it.
‘Dancing is the hidden language of the soul’ – Martha Graham.
Dance is an incredible escape from reality where you can lose yourself in the movements and that’s exactly what our educator this week feels about dancing which has been her passion since childhood. She is a lady with a keen interest in folk dance from Kerala and has performed on many festive occasions like Onam and also on Independence day, to the music of A.R Rahman. She draws inspiration from Shobhana, Madhuri Dixit and also Sudha Chandran, whom she admires a lot. Although she does not find much time to practice this hobby now, she feels that everything else in the world seems to fade away when the music begins and it gives immense relaxation as your feet whisk you away across the dance floor.
This graceful dancer is a great teacher who makes physics fun and accessible through analogies plucked from daily life. Yes ! She is our very own Ms Sheeba Nair, who also has a keen interest in drawing. During the rendezvous she recalled an incident of her childhood when she gifted her dad a greeting card of Santa Claus that she had sketched ,which her father treasures till today .Although she has had no formal training in drawing, she enjoys pattern drawing and has always been inspired by the work of Leonardo Da Vinci. She loves to draw whenever she has free time.
