The Millennium School’s Annual Inter-School English Elocution Competition

“Speech is power: speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel.”

–Ralph Waldo Emmerson

On 16th June 2022, the pinnacle of human emotion, speech and persuasion took place at Waxing EloquentThe Annual Inter-School English Elocution Competition for boys held at The Millennium School, with four students from Modern participating in the Sub-Junior, Junior, Sub-Senior, Senior categories and reciting famous works of prose and poetry.

A brief note from the man of the match or rather the elocution, Rishit Goswami – the winner in the senior category

“After 2 years of online slumber, returning to grace the stage at The Millennium School for the prestigious Waxing Eloquent Interschool Elocution Competition was truly a thrilling experience. To sit in a hall with competitors and rivals from many other schools, intently listening to each performance, and perhaps vying for a chance to be at the top, Modern finally regained its lost glory and won the rolling trophy in a pool of seventeen schools. “

Once again, Modern excelled with each student putting their best foot forward , setting the stage on fire with each students distinct spark displaying the diversity in talent that modern prides itself for. A special thanks to all the teachers who were instrumental in shaping our elocution champions who manifested the very essence of Modern that when push comes to shove, work is done and it is done well.

Here are our prize winners:

  • Tejas Patra (3A) stood 3rd in the Sub-Juniors category
  • Shreyaansh Girish (5J) stood 2nd in the Juniors category
  • Aryan Kundra (10I) stood 3rd in the Sub-Seniors category
  • Rishit Goswami (11B) stood 1st in the Seniors category

In a nutshell, Waxing Eloquent was the perfect platform for Modern’s aspiring elocutionists to master their art and share their passion with a medley of students across the UAE. To conclude, as William Jennings Bryan said “Eloquent speech is not from lip to ear but from heart to heart.“
