“There is no growth without change, and there is no change without loss.”

– Rick Warren

The last two years have been a gradual yet unpredictable rollercoaster that has shaken the very fabric of our society. The pandemic has changed our lives in ways we could never have imagined, and to cope up with the constant diversions and challenges it throws at us, we must learn to accept and adapt.

In our schooling itself, we have faced so many difficulties in communication, student involvement, collaboration, etc. From chaotic meetings to lost mails, school during the pandemic was a hassle. However, we learned and got better at dodging problems the pandemic threw at us, we took protective measures, limited the spread of the disease and attended occasional online classes when needed.

Such an online class saga was held just a few days back when there was an unforeseen rise in the number of Covid19 cases yet again. Although our teachers work so hard to make these classes interesting for us, we can all agree that online classes just aren’t the same.

In the two days that we were online, I realized that online classes aren’t so bad when they occur for a brief period of time only. Over the two online days, we attended an online workshop and our regular classes, all from the comfort of our homes.

Although we had some technical issues, some loss of focus and involvement, and some missing mischief with our friends, I must say that the experience was nostalgic. I heard the same perturbed requests of teachers telling us to switch on our cameras, the same see-through Wi-Fi excuses (that may or may not include me) and the same forever loading assignments. All of this brought up an amazing run down of memories.

Classes seemed to go through quite normally, maybe even more effectively. Having said that, the excitement, learning and collaboration of a regular class cannot be captured in an online class. However, these little online sessions do make me grateful for being able to avail such excellent education on a daily basis.

While these occasional online days may seem like an obstacle to many, I believe this is our new normal and however strenuous it may seem, it is a necessity that is saving millions of lives, reviving the economy and slowly mending the huge fault that the pandemic brought upon the harmony and unity of our society.
