A MOTHER IS BORN WITH EVERY CHILD

20th November 2017

It has been two months now that I was blessed with this beautiful angel… Insiyah. What a delight it is to watch my elder daughter Umme play with this little toy she enjoys being with. Life has turned 360 degrees at this point of time. Here is the same self who would be flooded with French assignments, Department documents and travel requisites to fill up for groups who are to leave in the months to come…if one just asks me what’s up dude…I would look at the watch and say “Half an hour of me time, which means a quick short nap before her next call; either a nappy change or a restful, tummyful feed.

So what is really different for a mom who has been a workaholic for the past 19 years of her teaching career? Well, I would say…seems like now I have realized what it is to be completely committed to “My Family”.

I never really saw the growing up of my elder daughter Umme. For the first three years of her childhood, she was looked after her maternal grand-parents as her mum was busy shaping up her career. In the year 2005, having joined Modern a year ago, I was keen to make a niche for myself. In that rush for gold, I forgot what it was to see her teething, watch her first delicate steps, eat her porridge by herself or even sleep without her mum. My poor baby must have cuddled her grand-ma in her sleep, suckled her thumb missing her mother’s warmth so dearly! Now when I think of all those missed days and precious moments, I realize what a loss I have incurred. So indebted am I to the Almighty to have blessed me yet again, after 11 long years.  Does everyone get a chance to relive and revive what they have so sorely missed!? …. I doubt!!

“Which profession deserves the highest salary and why? ” was the question asked to Ms. Manushi Chillar, representing India at Miss World 2017 pageant recently. Her answer is an absolute fitting reply “A mother deserves the highest amount of love and respect”.

“A mother is born with every child” and for me these past few months have been absolute bliss! Needless to say, I look forward to these priceless moments of Motherhood!
