‘Education means all round drawing out of the best in child and man – body, mind and spirit.’
– Mahatma Gandhi
Dear Parents,
Our students never cease to amaze us. In spite of the Summative Assessments, they continue to embrace every challenge with a chip on their shoulder and a smile on their faces that elicit a warmth in our hearts distinct from the rising Dubai temperatures.
How do they manage to do the balancing act so well? It gets us thinking that at their age we probably did not do half of what they do today.
This, my dear parents, is also testament to your influence in nurturing them into such fine young men and women. William Ross Wallace had written a poem titled ‘What rules the world’ way back in 1865 which celebrates motherhood. The refrain of this poem “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle Is the Hand That Rules the World” underlines the important role played by our mothers in shaping our destiny. We, at Modern, strongly believe that our mothers are our first educators and the role you play cannot be replaced by anyone else. Ms. Fatema has reflected on her experiences as a mother on Mother’s Day and we are urge you to read and comment on the same.
We would also like to take this opportunity to wish all our mothers a very happy Mothers Day. We have attached the link to the aforementioned poem herewith and highly recommend that you read it. (http://holyjoe.org/poetry/wallace.htm)
At this difficult time, our priority is the well-being of our students therefore, we had organised two sessions with the counselors and the students during the Value Education class. We have also instituted the #MGTChallenge page. For the uninitiated, MGT stands for Modern’s Got Talent and is a platform for all our students to showcase their talents. This week’s edition has Kalidas playing the guitar blindfolded, Shriya on the piano and Saatvik on drums. Looks like we might just have the makings of our next band!
We would also like to take this opportunity to write in to us if you or your ward has an affinity for poetry. We have an exciting event coming up and we will share more details with you in our next weekly. Watch this space!
Thank you to all those parents who have given their feedback on the Pulse Call. If you did not get time to do so, please fill in the link https://bit.ly/2yd5dQn so that we can work on some of your suggestions.
Modern is like a living and learning organism and learning is only done best when it is done together.
Have a Blessed week ahead.
Ramadan Kareem!
Till next week…
