Khalil Gibran has said that ,”Progress lies not in enhancing what is, but in advancing toward what will be.”
Today’s modern era is defined solely by change, and children are now the driving force of this change. The world that we live in is built on vision, mission, key strategies and core values. Hence, it becomes imperative that the youth is exposed to real life challenges, so that they learn how to identify challenges, connect the dots and generate meaningful insights, and ultimately create a path of purpose towards a brighter future.
The iCan Children’s Global Summit recognises the Design for Change movement. An international movement, originating from India, offers children a simple four-step framework (to Feel-Imagine-Do-Share)so that their ideas can make a positive impact in the world.
In short, teams from different schools presented their innovative ideas which are termed as ‘stories’- using the FIDS method (Feel-Imagine-Do-Share). The iCan Children’s summit is essentially a platform provided to the top teams chosen from each school to present their ideas. There were approximately 40 schools presenting their innovative ideas over the span of 2 days. The teams of GEMS Modern Academy got selected from the Innovation Mela from the students of grades 11 and IB1. Participants after presenting their ideas answered thought-provoking questions posed by the judges.
It is said to trust in dreams, for in them is the hidden gate to eternity.
If every child in the world can remember that they have the power to do whatever they, want no one can stop the youth from creating a revolution. We are on the cusp of great change and hope to build a community of positive change makers.
Remember if I can , you can and together we can.
