I know you might be reading this article and thinking, not another one of those sappy Mental Health initiatives! Many people don’t realize the impact or effect on mental and emotional well being. Have you ever faced problems relating to insomnia, mood swings, not wanting to eat or frequent headaches? The smallest physical and behavioral symptoms might just be the clue you need to know about how your mind and heart is doing. Anxiety, Depression and Eating Disorders are terms that are so casually used in our generation that we sometimes forgetting that they are serious medial conditions. You could already be suffering from one of these problems but are not aware of it and that is the reason why we have a month dedicated to Mental Health and spreading its awareness.
Some people who already show symptoms of a mental health disorder choose not to seek help thinking that it’s quite normal or it’s not serious enough to ask for help, but I can say with experience that it can snowball into something that gets out of control. If you feel like you need professional help, I would highly encourage you to reach out to either the school counselor or external therapists. If you just feel stressed or frustrated and seem to be overwhelmed with something you aren’t comfortable telling your friends or family, this is the perfect way to lay your problems on someone without worrying about being judged. Your identity along with what you share will be completely confidential and for the sake of it being fair, my identity is anonymous too. So feel free to lay anything on me and please help spread the word about this initiative!
