Life without a hobby is like food without the salt. Having a hobby breaks the monotony and brings a change in the mundane routine, but most of all, it enriches our lives. It gives us happiness and an opportunity to learn new skills during our leisure time.
Our educator this week is a multitalented lady who has a passion for singing classical ragas, as they help her relax and reconnect with herself. Her favourites are Raag Adaan and Raag Ahir Bhairav. Her love for music can be traced back to her childhood when she started playing the harmonium. Presently, she has been training with a Guru for the past one year. She destresses by singing devotional songs, which she feels bring her closer to God.
She is an early riser and walks for two hours every morning, to rejuvenate herself and take on the challenges of the day. She is full of energy and enthusiasm and engages her class with strings and loops.
Yes, this educator is our charming Ms. Shubhi Tandon, an extremely patient and affectionate teacher who always motivates her students to succeed.
Apart from singing, she enjoys listening to motivational speakers who speak on spirituality, amongst whom Dr. Vivek Bindra and Gaur Gopal Das top the list. She also finds time in her hectic schedule to spend with her younger child, whether it is playing with his toys, dressing up as spider woman or helping him on his bicycle.
During the lockdown, she developed a passion for cooking delicacies for her family and it was then that she discovered a hidden talent – baking! Her most heavenly creation so far has been a chocolate ganache cake that she baked for her husband on his birthday.
She also loves cooking up innovative dishes in the kitchen. ‘Cabbage 65’ is the one her family enjoyed the most.
This rendezvous rekindled my love for music and made me unearth the guitar I had packed away in my closet.
