She was always frowning, despite our efforts,
Banging her head against the wall,
Chewing on her pen and twirling it round and round,
Never responding to my call.
He was the most awkward boy I ever met,
He sucked his thumb and rolled his eyes,
His impaired communication skills,
Was something we all despised.
But one thing no one ever noticed,
Was the resilience inside their hearts,
These children seemingly so different,
Were almost the same as us since the start.
Once we learn to thrive together,
We can help their endless talent be unearthed,
Unremarkable little children suddenly become
Gems that have just been discovered.
Dreamers they are, dreaming in a different dimension,
Their minds blessed, not scarred.
And although WE can touch the sky,
THEY are the ones who reach the stars!
