The distinct spark that is ignited and carefully preserved by Modern and its thorough belief in diversity of not only talent but also thought that exists within every student, has never blazed brighter than it has in over the past two weeks. Our diligent students have represented our school on multiple platforms and schools.
As the term came to an end, our ninth graders enjoyed a wonderful poetry competition that showcased not only their natural talent but also their diverse thoughts from beautiful fantasies to frenzied demands for the rightful, that perhaps proved to be the refreshing cool breeze in the sweltering heat of new experiences and tough challenges. This competition was divided into two categories and held by the Wordsmith Society founded by Vedanth Aggarwal.
With the beginning of what will hopefully be a fruitful summer vacation, an exciting and surprisingly varied summer reading list has been prescribed by Aanya Khandelwal of grade 10H, which I personally cannot wait to begin reading. Not only has this incredibly interesting reading list been provided but an incentive to read these books has also been extended.
Senior school is when budding flowers bloom to show us the beauty that is concealed inside. Our students proved exactly this by exhibiting their talents in the various competitions that took place over the past two weeks. Waxing Eloquent, an Inter School Elocution Competition took place on the 16th of June and the participating students truly made Modern proud by bringing back the rolling trophy after four years. These students purveyed Modern’s unique spark and lit the stage on fire.
Expressing oneself clearly and succinctly is not only incredibly important but also essential. The creative arts can be both an expression and an extension of yourself. The Creative Arts Interschool Competition took place in The Westminster School on the 16th of June with the theme, ‘Awakening art, for a Brighter Future.’ The finalists were chosen from more than 250 entries. Modern won 14 trophies collectively with five being the 1st place winners. Our students excelled in the various fields of poetry, animation, art, coding and short story and their determination and effort finally came to fruition.
A Celebration of Learning was the highlight of the assembly held to culminate and celebrate the term gone by. Students were awarded certificates books and prizes for the various inter-class competitions, initiatives and the countless activities that they have willfully been a part of.
Lastly, on a personal note- with temperatures touching 50 degrees, I would like to request everyone to stay inside and drink sufficient water whilst still enjoying the summer and the holidays. Wishing everyone a pleasant, safe and enjoyable vacation.
