Analyzing the situation, offering rebuttals, pointing out mistakes with the point of information (POI) and being able to stand in a crowd and speak to an audience and convince them to support a side of the motion delivered in three minutes seems easy but the amount of effort that goes behind the scenes , the detailed research and analysis that takes place is something the audience and adjudicators do not see and are unaware of.
The final debate of the Inter class Freshmen Debates series saw 10A represented by Arisha Ghazi, Kushagra Sethi and Spraha Vats up against 10J represented by Aadesh Yadgouda, Ridhi Mulchandani and Saina Anand.
The motion was, “This house allows high ranking officers to refuse orders from political entities on grounds of conscience“, where 10A was side proposition and 10J represented side opposition. It was a battle of the Titians, however at the end of the day there was one winner.
10J was the winner for this series, with Aadesh Yadgouda and Kushagra Sethi were awarded Best Speaker from side Opposition and Proposition respectively. Congratulations to the winners and participants!
Whether we win or we learn, these experiences are extremely valuable and teach us the imperative skills and lessons for life. Looking forward to similar events but till then stay safe and the best of luck for your examinations!
– Arisha Ghazi (10A)
