We, the student editors, asked some of the MGT performers to write an article from their point of view. Here’s what they had to say…
“Our band members are Ridha Maryam from 10E, Sameeha Rizvi from 10E, Manishka Chauhan from 10F, Neel Rawat from 10A, Siddharth Saroday from 10H, and Devansh Kheria from 10H. We started our band in late June, 2021. We got our first gig at the end of term assembly. However, it was cancelled due to certain circumstances. Then we were put in the line-up for Moderns Got Talent, which took place in September.
We like the band Queen a lot. However, due to each member’s variation in music taste, we do not have many common role models. We decided to stick with jazz, pop and rock at the moment, but we go with an open mind for all genres of music.
We have not gotten to practice much together as our Board exams are coming up, but once we have some free time, we plan on covering a few songs and signing up for more gigs. We think that being in a band allows multiple people to shine at once. It also motivates all of us to play well. Also, those in the band who suffer from stage fright could feel more comfortable performing with other people, which lets them reach their true potential. In a band, different musical opinions are put together to create different pieces. This encourages original pieces.”
