I hope this new and fresh edition finds you happy and well!
Where do I begin to describe the new and exciting things Modern had in store for us this fortnight?
Let me begin with the ‘Hope Charity’. This was a charity in which students bought all things related to babies for single mothers who can’t afford them – from diapers and food to clothes and toys! The donation boxes were overflowing and it felt amazing to know that we were helping them, even if just in a very small way.
On Monday, all students of Grades 9 and 10 had the Career Bootcamp, wherein they spoke about creating a Unifrog account, how to write a good college application and more. Former Head Girl (batch of 2010), Menaka Ramakrushnan spoke to students about her journey and how she became a successful author. She spoke about what choices she had to make when she was a student just like us, and gave us enlightening and useful advice and insight, helping us to make the right choices in this crucial time. Might I add, she is a beautiful and very talented singer!
Our Environmental Application students had the chance to go to WETEX, where they gained some valuable insight. There were many different countries showcasing their latest projects pertaining to sustainability, thus expanding the thinking horizons of our batchmates who attended this event.
Science enthusiasts were delighted by the inter-school science competition hosted by JSS Private School. The competition was divided into two categories: scientific papers and app inventions. Students had to write a paper/develop an app on any subject of their choice, only one project taking the spotlight per school.
Another exciting event was chess! This event was headed by Mr. Maria Albert. This definitely got all the chess players racking their brains and practicing whenever they got the time to do so. It was held online on Teams and one of the games was played again during MGT, for other students to see the brilliant match!
On that note, I shall end the editor’s note here and see you next fortnight! Happy reading 😄
