We have all heard of planes and ships going missing in the Bermuda Triangle, but have you heard about the plane that went missing and returned 30 years later?
This is the story of PanAm Flight 914:
The story of Flight 914 is an interesting one, but quite hard to believe. PanAm Flight 914 was a Douglas DC-4 with 57 passengers and four crew members that took off from New York City airport, headed to Miami, Florida. It departed on July 2, 1955.
The very next day, authorities stated that the flight had gone missing. Everyone, including the authorities, speculated that the plane had crashed into some undiscovered water. That is, of course, until the flight miraculously landed out of nowhere in Miami, as originally planned. The only problem was that it was thirty years too late!
This incredible story was first published in May 1985 by the Weekly World News and was again published in 1999, increasing the supposed incident’s reach and popularity. Many theories and assumptions were pondered upon and debated, but the one that was agreed upon by most was that the incident was a complete hoax and soon faded away amongst other exciting news. This story was forgotten for a very long time, until the YouTube channel “Bright Side” brought this tale back to life.
Since then, conspiracy videos and articles have lit up the internet and many people tried to make sense of this peculiar story. It was a hot topic of discussion amongst the time-travel audience and they suggested a theory that could be credible. This theory states that the plane passed through a wormhole or a time portal and landed in 1985, instead of 1955, shattering the laws of space and time. The UFO crowd argued that aliens might have had something to do with the disappearance. But the Scientist lot vehemently argued that the above two theories were not possible since it would require the plane to travel faster than the speed of light! The most bizarre theory of them all was that the government kept the plane in its classified territories and let it fly again in 1985 to astonish mankind and create a spectacle. But at the end of the day, just like in 1985, everyone circled back to believing that this incident was completely fabricated and a true work of fiction.
A lot of evidence has been collected since, to prove that this incident was cooked-up. The tabloid Weekly World News was discredited for publishing fake stories and this story was no different. It was just one of those stories that catches the eye of the internet… or did it really happen?
