Cyber safety means being secure online. The online environment is rife with threats to our safety and security. In these times, when we all have to use our devices for work, education and even daily chores, cyber safety helps to avoid risks and helps us to stay protected against the consequences of being hacked or cyber bullied.
In order to make students understand and avoid the consequences of not being careful online, the school invited Mr. Raghav Mimani to give tips on how we can stay safe online in this day and age.
Mr. Mimani is the founder of a startup called Nischint. He has over 11 years of experience in areas of technology, telecommunication, sales and marketing.
Mr. Mimani explained how not staying safe on the net can cause harmful consequences such as being bullied, private information being published, etc. This delicate, but serious problem, was explained to students via animation and videos, which made it relatable. He also talked about how his startup, Nischint, could help students and their families stay digitally secure for life. He also narrated the story behind Nischint. Nischint is a Hindi word which means ‘carefree’. His ultimate goal in creating this was to keep up with the constantly changing threat to our landscape while making the experience immersive but safe.
He also detailed how students can avoid distractions and focus on the task at hand. One tip which he shared was to keep phones or other devices on airplane mode before studying. This really helps improve concentration and avoid distractions and it is a regular routine that he follows. Mr. Mimani introduced a new term – Focus Quotient (FQ). We all have heard of the terms Emotional Quotient and Intelligence Quotient, but FQ was a new term. He said that FQ refers to the amount of focus we put into working, despite distractions.
We hope that students absorbed his words and will put his suggestions to good use.
