The journey of a lifetime starts with the turning of a page.

Books are a portal into another universe that you can enter and exit whenever you desire. Science fiction, in particular, transports you into an entirely new world . Most sci-fi novels activate our vivid imagination as the genre is an oeuvre of the weird and wondrous. So, it is the perfect hobby to unwind at the end of a tiring week and that is exactly what our educator this week enjoys doing.
He is a great storyteller who magically recreates past and current events, thus making his classes very enjoyable. He is our dear Mr. Anthony Correia, a very affectionate teacher who is loved by his students.
During the rendezvous, he spoke about his interest in reading science fiction books especially those by Isaac Asimov, and murder mysteries by Agatha Christie. He recommends books by Terry Pratchett as they deliver a social message in a humorous way. His favourite books are ‘And Then There Were None’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’. Reading is not only Mr. Correia’s stress buster but also helps induce in him a sound and peaceful sleep.
He also enjoys watching Netflix series like ‘Lucifer’, and ‘The Mandalorian’ which is based on science fiction, since he is a die-hard fan of Star Wars. Netflix movies based on World War I and World War II like ‘Overlord’ and ‘Dunkirk’ are the ones he enjoys watching, as they reveal the dark side of human nature.
Listening to music is not just a hobby but a passion – a terrific way to relax, let off some steam and recharge one’s self. Mr. Correia has a passion for listening to heavy metal and metalcore, with the American heavy metal band, ‘Five Finger Death Punch’ and ‘Disturbed’ at the top of his list of favourites. He has even set the guitar version of the ‘Game of Thrones’ theme song as his cellphone ringtone.
Apart from reading and music, he is also a great fan of football and supports Manchester United. The lockdown helped him to incorporate an exercise regime into his routine and he now enjoys going for walks.
I was so engrossed in conversation with this versatile yet humble teacher that I wished the rendezvous did not have to end.
