Father’s Day

Spread the love

There is always someone special behind one’s achievements, perception of the world and most
importantly, behind one’s happiness. When I have to identify that one person who has built my
character, morality and attitude towards challenges, and that one person who has given me the
ethics to distinguish the good inside myself from the bad, the first person that comes to mind is
my father. In all the phases of our life, from the exploration of one’s individuality and the
discovery of one’s identity to the gratification of our goals and eventual salvation, it is often our
parents who play an indispensable role, not only by aiding us in finding ourselves but also by
refining our moral growth. My father has done exactly this by adding different colors to my
rather black and white perception of the world.
There have been moments of hopelessness in the past few years, moments where I have given
up in the face of despondency by blindly following the example of those around me. It is in
these moments, that my father has given me a sense of assurance and comfort. Despite being
trapped in the mist of despair, he has broken through the shackles of negativity and has
brought sunshine in the lives of those around him. He has been enthusiastic and vocal about my
educative and skill-enhancing activities, my character development and the need to work on my
social skills, but among the many lessons that he has taught me, the one lesson that I will
undoubtedly remember until the very ending brink of life is the significance of always keeping
an open door to positivity.
We all need someone who pushes us to our boundaries, someone who questions the intent
behind our decisions and someone who maximizes the fruits of our effort. My father has
fulfilled this role in more ways than could be put down in this piece of text. Though this quality
has led to endless fights and arguments between us, it is something that I personally appreciate
to an immeasurable degree. It is his ability to point out my strengths and weaknesses that has
been vital in keeping me on my track, in staying connected with others and in having a fair and
conceding judgement of whether I am working to my potential towards the things that truly
matter, towards the future and towards the simple joys in life.
Having had a noteworthy influence on me, I can proudly say that the values that he has given
me will always be a deciding factor of what I become, the decisions I make and the relationships
that I choose to cherish. Though I have managed to put a lot of what I treasure in my father into
words, his value for family is something that mere words will never be able to record or
capture. There is nothing more that we could as children ask for from a father, and to conclude,
we just wish that he keeps pushing forward through the hardships of life, for we are, were and
will always be there to support him.

Happy Father’s Day!
